Firenze Sage: Oh, our prayers are answered! Jesse is here.

Jesse Jackson PUSHes back violence here, there and everywhere? He spoke Friday morning from the Chicago offices of his Rainbow PUSH Coalition. Jesse was in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday as part of a delegation of religious leaders trying to find a way to end the violence in Syria. Results of the Geneva meeting to reduce violence?

Jesse Jackson is now about to get on a plane for a flight south to Florida. He will add his voice to the growing protests in and around Sanford, Fla., concerning the death one month ago of 17 year old Afro-American Martin.

Martin was on his way to the store when shot and died at scene. Zimmerman, a Peruvian-Caucasian Neighborhood Watch person involved, was not arrested. A witness reports that he heard ‘Help! Help!” and saw red shirted Zimmerman on bottom being beaten. Zimmerman says he was returning to his truck when he was attacked. The police report notes Zimmerman’s face was bloody and grass stains were on the back of his shirt.

After Jesse Jackson’s resounding success in Geneva, Switzerland in sorting Syria, he returns. Just why is this delegation in Europe instead of Syria or Chicago?

Firenze Sage: Liar, liar and stupid too.

DUMB
dumb criminal

Here’s how to duck jury duty. Sort of. In long term, it did not work. Juror No. 4361 was a wreck. Her hair hung askew in curlers. Her shoes and reindeer socks mismatched. Heavy makeup was smeared on her face.

Denver District Court Judge Anne Mansfield — presiding over jury selection June 28 — quickly dismissed the woman, who explained in disjointed speech, “I broke out of domestic violence in the military. And I have a lot of repercussions. One is post-traumatic stress disorder.”

Now Juror No. 4361 — published author and Denver cosmetologist Susan Cole — faces felony charges after allegedly bragging months later on a radio program that she fabricated the elaborate ruse to duck jury duty.

Turns out, Judge Mansfield was listening.

Firenze Sage: Why stop at soccer? How about ballroom dancing? [a third recreation field for Gitmo detainees]

Gitmo P.E.
Gitmo P.E.

What happened to breaking up rocks and push-ups for POWs? Instead, taxpayers pay for another — the third — recreation field for Gitmo prisoners.

This is the third recreation facility at Camp 6, which houses “highly compliant” detainees who live in a communal setting, the report stated. Other facilities include an indoor recreation field and an outdoor recreation field.

The new field will afford the detainees “maximum access” — about 20 hours a day, via special passageways to allow passage into the new recreation yard without military escort.

A military police representative who asked not to be identified by name told the reporters that allowing high levels of activity outdoors helped reduce behavioral problems at the camps, and limited the amount of interaction between detainees and the guards, Fox reported.

Why not just give them ball room dancing? It would certainly be cheaper.

In Oxford, Ohio a woman is saved by a deer. While a man was attacking a woman – choking her with her purse straps and punching her in the forehead – a deer darted in the darkness, startling the attacker and scaring him away, police said Monday.

“The deer jumped up and ran…and so did he,” said police spokesman Sgt. Jon Varley.

Varley thinks the deer was asleep for the night when the woman was leaving a party early Sunday and the commotion of the attack stirred the animal awake.

No description of the attacker – or the heroic deer – was available. Information from www.enquirer.com

Good thing the deer escaped. He’d be cited for no license if found.

Medicare fraud costs taxpayers roughly $60 BILLION a year. Obama promised to crack down on medicare fraud. The Obama administration greatly strengthened the budget. And what the results?

Congressional officials say a $77 million computer system launched last summer to stop Medicare fraud before it happens had prevented just one suspicious payment by Christmas.

That saved taxpayers exactly $7,591.

Firenze Sage: Happy Halloween falls to Islam… [American judge OK’s Muslim attack on man in Halloween costume]

A victim wearing a Halloween costume in Pennsylvania was attacked by a Muslim, Talaag Elbayomy. The attacker said that the Halloween costume was a version of the Prophet Muhammad and hence the attack was justified.

The attack was recorded on film and witnessed by a police officer. The police promptly arrested the assailant, who was later charged with harassment.

But, as legal scholar Jonathan Turley notes in his blog, the judge who heard the case dismissed the case on the grounds that the offense to Islam was not protected speech.

The judge also lectured the victim on the wrongheaded nature of his views. Judge Mark Martin’s decision was based on the idea that the assailant, one Talaag Elbayomy, was merely defending “his culture.”

Firenze Sage: The U.S. attorney [Jerry Albert] in a coverup … [Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals]

When a federal appeals court issued a ruling describing a prosecutor’s misconduct that forced a halt to a drug-trafficking trial in Tucson, the U.S. attorney’s response was to ask the court to erase the prosecutor’s name from the published decision.

Bad move. After republishing the name of the errant prosecutor, Jerry Albert, the court pointed a finger at the U.S. attorney’s office and said it was time to start taking responsibility for the misdeeds of its employees.

“When a prosecutor steps over the boundaries of proper conduct and into unethical territory, the government has a duty to own up to it and to give assurances that it will not happen again,” the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said Tuesday.

And, concerning all of the U.S. attorney’s legal filings, the court said, “we cannot find a single hint of appreciation of the seriousness of the misconduct. … Instead, the government attempts to shift blame” to the defense lawyer in the case.

union pays protesters of CPAC

Protesters at Friday’s “Occupy CPAC” event, organized by AFL-CIO and the Occupy DC movement, told The Daily Caller that they were paid “sixty bucks a head” to protest outside the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

One protester told The Daily Caller that all the “Occupy” activists were being paid to protest, and that his union, Sheet Metal Workers Local 100, approached him about the money-making opportunity.

“I have nothing nice to say about Local 100. … They just told me ‘you wanna make sixty bucks? So c’mon,’” the protester said.

Other “Occupy CPAC” protesters were unwilling to speak on camera because they were unaware what they were protesting and what the CPAC event was about.

Firenze Sage: The beach is no fun at all… [Los Angeles says no more Frisbees or footballs]

ocean water polo

Leave footballs and Frisbees at home this summer — or face huge fines — says Los Angeles County officials Three infractions can result in fines of $500. Be sure to check out their 37 page ordinance.

The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County.

In passing the 37-page ordinance on Tuesday, officials sought to outline responsibilities for law enforcement and other public agencies while also providing clarification on beach-goer activities that could potentially disrupt or even injure the public.

According to Lucy Kim, from the LA County Department of Beaches and Harbors, a first-time offender will have to pay a $100 fine. For a second offense, beach-goers will face a $200 fine. Three or more infractions within one year will result in a $500 fine, Kim said.

The updated rules now prohibit “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Exceptions allow for ball-throwing in predesignated areas, when a person obtains a permit, or playing water polo “in or over the Pacific Ocean”.

_______________

I wonder if in the 37 pages of misdemeanors there is a description of how to play polo over the ocean. At least they didn’t prohibit levitation.

Firenze Sage: A lawyer and a rabbi from Hicksville [steal]

Text

Lawyer steals

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A real estate lawyer already faces prosecution in a Brooklyn mortgage fraud scheme. He now stands accused of stealing a $75,000 down payment from a Staten Island woman who was selling her house.

Prosecutors say Jarrett Haber, 45,of Hicksville, had already been indicted in Brooklyn, New York — alongside a disgraced rabbi who would later be accused of arranging two murders — when Haber helped himself to the money in 2010.

Haber was representing a friend of his who was selling her Bentley Street home for $475,000, and the buyer had placed $75,000 in an escrow account as a down payment, prosecutors allege.

On July 29, 2010, the date of the closing, the money wasn’t there, authorities allege.

Haber told investigators the money was stolen from him, a law enforcement source said.
