His conclusion? The good, hot, summer weather.

Providing the perfect reason that absolves the Swedish establishment of all responsibility, Svensson described how we have been a bit unlucky with the weather this year. Hopefully we will have a colder summer next year and sexual crimes will then be an old memory linked to that one hot Swedish summer.
Jerry Brown and the Democrat Party  received roughly $10 MILLION dollars donated by 26 energy companies.  The specifics:
Public interest group Consumer Watchdog  reported 8/10/2016  that twenty-six energy companies including the state’s three major investor-owned utilities, Occidental, Chevron, and NRG—all with business before the state—donated $9.8 million to Jerry Brown’s campaigns, causes, and initiatives, and to the California Democratic Party since he ran for Governor.
Donations were often made within days or weeks of winning favors. The three major investor-owned utilities alone contributed nearly $6 million.

New rules by President Barack Obama’s Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will require officials at homeless shelters to let men who say they are transgender into the same bedrooms, toilets and showers as homeless women.

The rules are being lauded by gay-advocacy organizations.  Gay-advocacy organizations which  support the transgender ideology insist that government must use its power to minimize legal and civic recognition of the differences between men and women.

David Stacy, government affairs director at the Human Rights Campaign, maintains  that, “Transgender women are women regardless of whether they were born male,â€Â The Hill reports.
“If you’re a transgender woman and you walk into a homeless shelter and they treat you like a man, it’s traumatizing†for the man-who-wants-to-be-a-woman, the activist added. “These people are already vulnerable, they’re homeless, they don’t have a job. To face discrimination the entire time they’re there is a real problem.â€
The new homeless shelter rule comes on the heels of Obama’s new Fair Housing Act.  Obama’s new rules state  that felons can’t be denied a rental apartment based on their criminal history.

If you want the short answer for why the Arab world is sliding into the abyss, look no further than this little incident. It did itself in chiefly through its long-abiding and all-consuming hatred of Israel, and of Jews.
That’s not a point you will find in a long article about the Arab crackup by Scott Andersonin last weekend’s New York Times Magazine, where hatred of Israel is treated like sand in Arabia—a given of the landscape. Nor is it much mentioned in the wide literature about the legacy of colonialism in the Middle East, or the oil curse, governance gap, democracy deficit, youth bulge, sectarian divide, legitimacy crisis and every other explanation for Arab decline.
Yet the fact remains that over the past 70 years the Arab world got rid of its Jews, some 900,000 people, while holding on to its hatred of them. Over time the result proved fatal: a combination of lost human capital, ruinously expensive wars, misdirected ideological obsessions, and an intellectual life perverted by conspiracy theory and the perpetual search for scapegoats. The Arab world’s problems are a problem of the Arab mind, and the name for that problem is anti-Semitism.
As a historical phenomenon, this is not unique. In a 2005 essay in Commentary, historianPaul Johnson noted that wherever anti-Semitism took hold, social and political decline almost inevitably followed.
Spain expelled its Jews with the Alhambra Decree of 1492. The effect, Mr. Johnson noted, “was to deprive Spain (and its colonies) of a class already notable for the astute handling of finance.†In czarist Russia, anti-Semitic laws led to mass Jewish emigration as well as an “immense increase in administrative corruption produced by the system of restrictions.†Germany might well have won the race for an atomic bomb if Hitler hadn’t sent Albert Einstein, Leo Szilard, Enrico Fermi and Edward Teller into exile in the U.S.
These patterns were replicated in the Arab world. Contrary to myth, the cause was not the creation of the state of Israel. There were bloody anti-Jewish pogroms in Palestine in 1929, Iraq in 1941, and Lebanon in 1945. Nor is it accurate to blame Jerusalem for fueling anti-Semitism by refusing to trade land for peace. Among Egyptians, hatred of Israel barely abated after Menachem Begin relinquished the Sinai to Anwar Sadat. Among Palestinians, anti-Semitism became markedly worse during the years of the Oslo peace process.
In his essay, Mr. Johnson called anti-Semitism a “highly infectious†disease capable of becoming “endemic in certain localities and societies,†and “by no means confined to weak, feeble or commonplace intellects.†Anti-Semitism may be irrational, but its potency, he noted, lies in transforming a personal and instinctive irrationalism into a political and systematic one. For the Jew-hater, every crime has the same culprit and every problem has the same solution.
Anti-Semitism makes the world seem easy. In doing so, it condemns the anti-Semite to a permanent darkness.
Today there is no great university in the Arab world, no serious indigenous scientific base, a stunted literary culture. In 2015 the U.S. Patent Office reported 3,804 patents from Israel, as compared with 364 from Saudi Arabia, 56 from the United Arab Emirates, and 30 from Egypt. The mistreatment and expulsion of Jews has served as a template for the persecution and displacement of other religious minorities: Christians, Yazidis, the Baha’i.
Hatred of Israel and Jews has also deprived the Arab world of both the resources and the example of its neighbor. Israel quietly supplies water to Jordan, helping to ease the burden of Syrian refugees, and quietly provides surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities to Egypt to fight ISIS in the Sinai. But this is largely unknown among Arabs, for whom the only permissible image of Israel is an Israeli soldier in riot gear, abusing a Palestinian.
Successful nations make a point of trying to learn from their neighbors. The Arab world has been taught over generations only to hate theirs.
This may be starting to change. In the past five years the Arab world has been forced to face up to its own failings in ways it cannot easily blame on Israel. The change can be seen in the budding rapprochement between Jerusalem and Cairo, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, which might yet yield tactical and strategic advantages on both sides, particularly against common enemies such as ISIS and Iran.
That’s not enough. So long as an Arab athlete can’t pay his Israeli opposite the courtesy of a handshake, the disease of the Arab mind and the misfortunes of its world will continue. For Israel, this is a pity. For the Arabs, it’s a calamity. The hater always suffers more than the object of his hatred.

OK to kill  poppies growing wild in a  community garden in  Aptos, CA?  Yes? No?
Some say, “Kill! Â Kill! Â It’s OK to kill poppies, because ….”
CA poppies are just a weed, right? And it’s OK to kill weeds ….

 Weeds are plants that happen to be where someone does not want them to be, right?
And  if you think that a CA golden poppy is a weed then it’s OK to  kill — eradicate — poison  CA poppies, right?
And, that’s what happened in sleepy, lovely Aptos, CA.
Someone or persons  decided that it’s  perfectly OK to kill CA  poppies. That is, poppies growing along a fence and within  a community garden located in Aptos, CA.
History:  For  the last couple years,  CA poppies grew  freely along the fence of a community garden in Aptos, CA. #AptosCommunityGarden    And as poppies are want to do, some poppies growing along outside the fence migrated  inside the community garden.  There were lots of poppies just outside the fence and a few poppies here and there inside the fence of the community garden.
Suddenly one day recently  —  no more poppies grow  along the fence of the community garden in Aptos.  Almost all of the poppies inside the gate, along the gate and next to some plots are also history.  Pictures of garden available on Twitter:   #AptosCommunityGarden
Someone  or persons —  was it an impulse or was it planned?  — wiped out in one day  almost all of  the  CA poppies growing along the  community garden fence and most of those growing inside the garden.
A person or people who kill poppies ….. what also do they kill?
They kill  beauty.  They forget or never saw the beauty of CA hillsides.

 What else do they kill?  One wonders,  what kind of a person kills CA poppies growing wild along a fence at a community garden.
Maybe the person(s)  who killed the poppies believes  that poppies are “invasive weeds” which will take over the boxes of  the well manicured vegetable boxes.
Not so.  Poppies don’t tend to be invasive.  Poppies prefer sandy ground, no water and no  care.  Poppies are a true wildflower.
Maybe the person(s) who killed the poppies  did so to “clear the pathway” between the garden plots?  That theory fails because  lots of flowers and other plants continue to grow along the pathways.
Whoever targeted these CA poppies was not interested in clearing the pathways. Â The goal was to kill poppies. And they did quite a good job of killing off the poppies.
 So,  what was the motive for killing poppies? God only knows!  And that person knows.
Well, Â what to do? Â Accept bad behavior of people who kill poppies? Â No.
What to do? Â Stand up for what you believe in.
I believe that poppies and wildflowers are good and help the world and people to heal. Â So — what to do when faced with bad behavior of those who kill poppies? Â Grow more poppies. Â And keep an eye out.
So, let’s  keep an eye out for person(s) who kill poppies growing on public lands and along fences. Tell them about the laws in CA about poppies. They need education.
The law has plenty to say about killing poppies without the express permission of the land owner. Â CA poppies do have legal rights.
“California Penal Code Section 384a requires written landowner permission to remove and sell plant material from land that a person does not own, and removing or damaging plants from property that a person does not own without permission may constitute trespass and/or petty theft. Â However, these laws do not prevent the collection of California poppies on private land by the landowner.” Â
Those poppies recently killed along the fence of a community garden in Aptos, CA  — if the other side of the fence is public land (owned by the government)  then it appears that a crime may have been committed.  Taking that which does not belong to the owner is a theft. And trespass.
Would the owner of a community garden in Aptos, CA  knowingly give permission to kill  CA poppies growing along the fence?  Or inside the garden?  I think not.
Stand up for what you believe in. Â And I believe in wildflowers.
