To be or not to be a Sanctuary City.  Did voters vote?
Which CA cities  are Sanctuary Cities?  Santa Cruz, Watsonville – they are Sanctuary Cities.  What about Scotts Valley?  Capitola? Can residents in Aptos, CA vote?
 In general, do  voters get to vote to be or not to be a Sanctuary City?
Below is a Letter published in the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2016:
“Listening to President Trump’s inaugural address was most inspiring. As the mother of a United States Marine officer I know that now there is now a man in the White House who really cares about our military, our veterans, families and keeping this country safe. I am ashamed that on leaving office Mr. Obama released 233 drug dealers. How does that make our children safe?
Oh, but I forgot, Santa Cruz is a sanctuary city so this release does not worry its residents.”

So — is it  time to end sanctuary cities?  In 2017,  there are about 300 canctuary cities — up form about 70 in 2011.
Remember Kate Steinle —  who was murdered while walking with her father  in sanctuary city San Francisco.  She was murdered by  by an illegal who had been deported multiple times.
 Let’s say to sanctuary cities:  “If you refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, you will lose your federal funding.â€
And,  we’re all  for  ‘women’s choice’.  How abut the choice to have babies and work?
How about the ‘choice’ of the unborn child? Â The ‘choice’ of the father of the unborn child?
How about the ‘choice’ of taxpayers to fund or not fund  abortions during the third trimester?  Currently, federal law permits abortion into the 9th month of pregnancy.
Women marched this last Sat. 1/21 Â for all sorts of reasons — for the choices of the unborn child. For privacy rights. For reproductive rights. Thousands of women on the march.

New Wave Feminists had been chosen as an official partner of the Jan. 21 Women’s March on Washington, until the Atlantic magazine revealed that the group believes in the right to life of unborn children.
$2 BILLION ‘error’ re cost of CA healthcare for poor not reported ’til after Nov. elections
Aptos Lawyer:  Two BILLION  bucks  ‘error’  for cost of  Medic-Aid health care  for poor in California.Â
The California Department of Finance told Breitbart News that they did not discover a negative $1.8 billion cost error in calculating the state budget, signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on June 27, until after the November 8 elections.
In a testy hearing in front of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee on January 17, Gov. Brown’s Chief Deputy Finance Director, Amy Costa, tried to explain away a negative $1.4 billion understatement of California’s portion of the cost to fund healthcare for the poor as, “The math was wrong.†[Breitbart News has discovered the wrong math is actually an additional $1.8 billion cost.]
Under questioning from the Senate committee, Ms. Costa stated that the Brown administration discovered the Medi-Cal error last fall, but she acknowledged that they did not tell the legislature until January 10, and only learned of the math at the hearing.

The Seattle Police Department has recovered “wooden poles, heavy pipes, and shields†from left-wing protesters, amidst anti-Trump and anti-MILO protests taking place in the city.
The Seattle Police Department posted a photograph of several of the recovered items to their Facebook account on Friday evening. They were recovered from protesters in Westlake Park.
Unrest erupted in Seattle on Friday evening partially in response to the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Large crowds of protesters are also gathering at the University of Washington, where an event with Breitbart editor MILO is taking place.
The M.L. King Jr bust never moved:  White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, scoldedTIME magazine White House pool reporter Zeke Miller on Friday for falsely reporting that the Martin Luther King Jr. bust had been removed from the Oval Office after President Donald Trump moved in.
Miller had initially tweeted Friday that the MLK Jr. bust, which then-President Obama put in the Oval Office after removing a bust of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 2009, had been removed from the Oval Office.
Realizing his mistake, Miller tweeted a correction and apologized for spreading the false report:
Correction: The MLK bust is still in the Oval Office. It was obscured by an agent and door.

Oh do forgive his apparent blindness. The bust,which I must have seen before,was behind a person or door which obscured my view of what I must have seen before. Or–I got caught lying.
So how long will it take Trump to re-build our walls of defense? Â
On Day 1, Trump listened to these words of advise delivered at an episcopal church across from the White House:
“President-elect and Mrs. Trump, Vice-President-elect and Mrs. Pence, families and friends, it’s an honor to be with you on this historic day.
“President-elect Trump, I remember that it was exactly one year ago this weekend that I was with you on your Citation jet flying around Iowa before the first caucus or primary vote was cast. After our Wendy’s cheeseburgers, I said that I believed that you would be the next President of the United States. And if that happened, it would be because God had placed you there.
As the prophet Daniel said, it is God who removes and establishes leaders.
Today─one year later─God has raised you and Vice-President-elect Pence up for a great, eternal purpose.
“When I think of you, President-elect Trump, I am reminded of another great leader God chose thousands of years ago in Israel. The nation had been in bondage for decades, the infrastructure of the country was in shambles, and God raised up a powerful leader to restore the nation.
And the man God chose was neither a politician nor a priest. Instead, God chose a builder whose name was Nehemiah.
And the first step of rebuilding the nation was the building of a great wall. God instructed Nehemiah to build a wall around Jerusalem to protect its citizens from enemy attack. You see, God is NOT against building walls!
And the Old Testament book of Nehemiah records how Nehemiah completed that massive project in record time—just 52 days.
Why was Nehemiah so successful in building the wall and rebuilding the nation?
I. Nehemiah Refused To Allow His Critics To Distract Him
Someone has said there are three guaranteed ways to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.
Any true leader is going to face criticism.
President-elect Trump, you have had your share of critics from the day you announced you were running for President, but you’ve confounded them at every turn. First, they said you couldn’t win the nomination, but you ended up garnering the most votes of any Republican in history. Then they said that was a fluke, but you couldn’t win the election. And you handily defeated your opponent. And now your critics say you can’t possibly succeed in your agenda.
Nehemiah had his own share of critics. Two of his chief antagonists were named Sanballat and Tobiah. They were the mainstream media of their day. They continued to hound and heckle Nehemiah and spread false rumors while he and the Israelites were building the wall.
At one point, they said, “Nehemiah, you need to stop the project and come down from the wall and have a meeting with us.â€
Nehemiah’s response was classic: “I’m doing a great work . . . why should I stop the work and come down to you?†(Nehemiah 6:3)
President-elect Trump, you, Vice President-elect Pence, and your team have been called by God and elected by the people to do a great work. It is a work far too important to stop and answer your critics.
Il. Nehemiah Refused To Allow Setbacks To Stop Him
As you read through Nehemiah’s journal, you’ll find that he faced tremendous obstacles as he attempted to rebuild the nation: an economic recession, terrorist attacks from enemies, and discouragement among the citizens.
But none of those setbacks was enough to stop Nehemiah.
Some years ago two sports commentators on television were discussing the late Hall of Famer Walter Peyton, the running back for the Chicago Bears. One commentator said, “Can you believe that during his career Peyton has run more than nine miles with a football?â€
The other commentator replied, “What’s even more amazing is that every 3.8 yards of those nine miles Peyton got knocked down by a guy twice his size! But he got back up every time and kept moving forward in spite of those bruising hits and hard knocks.â€
President Trump, you, your team and your families are going to face some bruising setbacks. But remember . .
The true measure of a leader is what it takes to stop him. And knowing you, I believe it’s going to take a lot to stop you.

III. Nehemiah Sought God’s Help To Empower Him
Nehemiah was a gifted leader, but he knew he could not succeed without God’s divine help. And that is why as he began the great work, Nehemiah knelt before God and prayed:
“O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant who delights in revering your name. Give your servant success today . . .†(Nehemiah 1:11)
Mr. President-elect, I don’t believe we have ever had a president with as many natural gifts as you. As you know, the reason I endorsed you within weeks of your announcement that you were running was because I believed that you were the only candidate who possessed the leadership skills necessary to reverse the downward trajectory of our nation.
And beginning with Vice President-elect Pence─a great and godly man─you’ve assembled an unbelievably talented group of advisers around you.
But the challenges facing our nation are so great that it will take more than natural ability to meet them. We need God’s supernatural power.
The good news is that the same God who empowered Nehemiah nearly 2500 years ago is available to every one of us today who is willing to humble himself and ask for His help.
God says in Psalm 50:15 “Call upon Me in the day of trouble I shall rescue you and you will honor Me.â€
 When President Ronald Reagan addressed the Republican National Convention in my city of Dallas in 1984 he said, “America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are “one nation under God,†then we will be a nation gone under.â€
President-elect Trump, you had a campaign slogan that resonated with tens of millions of Americans because it spoke to their heartfelt desire: “Make America Great Again.â€
Psalm 33:12 gives us the starting point for making that happen: “Blessed— great—is the nation whose God is the Lord.â€
“May God bless President-elect Trump, Vice-President-elect Pence, their families and advisers. And may God truly bless the United States of America.
Parishioners at All Saints episcopal  will no longer pray by name for the president  over fears that  the name “Donald Trump” might cause trauma for those  in the congregation who disagree with Trump’s views.
“If you come to All Saints this Sunday, you’ll notice that we have removed the proper names from our prayers for those in authority. Whereas before we prayed for ‘Barack, our president,’ we are now praying for “our president, our president-elect, and all others in authority.â€
“This practice — not praying for President Trump —  will continue for at least the near future,”  Rector Kinman  wrote.
Rector Kinman went on to say the safety of the congregation could be jeopardized by the mere nation of the president-elect’s name.
Kinman stated  that  — should issues arise — that  they have a priest trained as a therapist who  specializes  in trauma.  The Rector then added that  he believes the church should be a “safe space.â€
“We are in a unique situation in my lifetime where we have a president elect whose name is literally a trauma trigger to some people – particularly women and people who, because of his words and actions, he represents an active danger to health and safety,” he wrote.
“As I have said before, for some it could be as if we demanded a battered woman pray for her abuser by name. It’s not that the abuser doesn’t need prayer – certainly the opposite – but prayer should never be a trauma-causing act,” he wrote.

According to Hill.com Trump’s plan is to save 10 TRILLION over the next ten years.
Vought and Gray, who both worked for the Heritage Foundation, are laying the groundwork for  Trump’s so-called skinny budget — a 175- to 200-page document that will spell out the main priorities of the incoming Trump administration, along with summary tables. That document is expected to come out within 45 days of Trump taking office.
The administration’s full budget, including appropriations language, supplementary materials and long-term analysis, is expected to be released toward the end of Trump’s first 100 days in office, or by mid- to late April.
Trump’s plans are based on Heritage Foundation ‘think tank’ ideas how to cut the debt.

Perry, Trump’s pick for the Department of Energy, Â no longer thinks that the department should be eliminated. Â Of course, that would get rid of Perry’s new job!
What to do about the Energy Department?  How  about re-organize it and remove those  employees who are convinced that climate changes are largely man made?  Trump’s transition team has tried – unsuccessfully – to get a list of employees who have worked on climate change initiatives.
 Earlier this week on the #FakeNewsNetwork CNN, Marc Lamont Hill saidPresident-elect Donald Trump’s diversity coalition are “a bunch of mediocre negroes being dragged in front of TV as a photo-op for Donald Trump’s exploitative campaign against black people.â€
The Morehouse College professor also made his feelings about Steve Harvey’s meeting with Donald Trump very clear:
…my disagreement is the way in which [Steve Harvey is] being used by folk like Donald Trump. Again, his intention is just to have a seat at the table. But when you’re at the table, you should have experts at the table. You should have people who can challenge the president at the table. … Because all — because they keep bringing up comedians and actors and athletes to represent black interests is demeaning, it’s disrespectful, and it’s condescending. Bring some people up there with some expertise, Donald Trump, don’t just bring up people to entertain.â€
