120+ Families Homeless in Santa Cruz: Where do we go from here? Elected ‘leaders’ clueless …

What about the homeless living in  Santa Cruz CA enviorns?   Locally  elected  Santa Cruz CA  ‘leaders’  — mayor, chief of police, city council, county board of supervisors — don’t  know  what to do about the homeless living in Santa Cruz. Or at least they aren’t saying.

Will Santa Cruz soon look like San Francisco which has a legally sanctioned encampment in front of city hall?

And the Santa Cruz CA elected ‘leaders’  are not doing anything about  the growing illegal homeless  encampments.

It  might be said that our local ‘leaders’  are not answering phone calls and questions about what’s being done or not done.

Much in the news a year ago, how and where to put transitional  homeless camps are  no longer in the  news.     That’s what Grossman &  his wife Dehlen report in  a guest commentary published 10/1/2020  in the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

Of all  persons and organizations contacted, only  one of the  ‘leaders’,  board supervisor Ryan Coonerty, responded and ‘ got back to Kevin Grossman & Amy Dahlen  about transitional camps for homeless folk.  [Grossman & Dahlen live in the community; no other information available.]

The word ‘leaders’  is placed in   ‘    ‘     because what  stands out in the  TV nightly news is the lack of leadership that so  local officials in  so many  Democrat  run cities show routinely. Politicians   especially in Democrat run cities, fold at the first sign of violent confrontation. The highest violence occurs in Democrat run cities.

Remember — CA and Santa Cruz are run by the Democrats and Santa Cruz is a Sanctuary City.  And remember — the Santa Cruz council voted unanimously to  permit  a huge Black Lives Matter mural  in front of City Hall.

Other than that they are ‘community members’ there’s no information provided by the Sentinel  about who K. Grossman and A. Dahlen are and what their involvement has been locally.  [There’s one listing in Facebook  for a Grossman  of  Santa Cruz  but that concerns a  single man.]

The article notes that about 120 families are homeless in Sana Cruz.  Intact families with kids to care for probably  jerk  the heart strings of more people than  do  drug addicted single men with little family or  job history.

So maybe that’s the place to start — what to do about 120+ homeless families residing in the Santa Cruz enviorns.

How help 120 families that are homeless. Move ‘leaders’ aside and figure out how to ask individuals, groups and organizations how they can assist.

  1.  We have ZOOM now, an easy way to connect for free for 45 minutes.  Keep meetings short and do them standing up and that ‘s one way to move decisions along.

2.  Type Santa Cruz into Facebook and up pops several organizations worth exploring.   United Way of Santa Cruz County runs a 211  advertisement worth knowing about.   211 will connect individuals with health and human services so it says.

3.  Use tools such as Survey Monkey to find out how people can and will help.   It’s easy to put up a simple survey and ask people what they are willing to do.   Here’s one question that people can be asked:

Can you help one (1) homeless family?   Telephone contact and listening.  Referral to resources and finding out about other resources.   Referral or assistance of  little cash a week, bus pass, money to clean clothes.  Listen, listen and listen.

What are you willing to do?

Black Lives Matter? What say church leaders (Trinity Covenant, Episcopal, Catholic) about racism, looting & violence on Trinity Sunday

Killing blacks.  Looting.  Violence.  Black Lives Matter?  So what say Catholic, Episcopal and Trinity Covenant church leaders in Aptos, CA  — if anything —  on Trinity Sunday  about the recent  killing of an unarmed black,  about riots and looting?

The Catholic priest at Resurrection Church  said nothing  about recent events.  no reference to the riots, the looting or the killing of  an unarmed black man by  a white policeman.  What Fr. R  said:   God is love and love means relationships and ….   make your daily relationships about love.  God is love and love means relationship.  A simple message.   Catch it on You Tube.

At  Trinity Covenant Church the  minister  T.M.  started his sermon with the words, It’s a sin to kill.  It’s a  sin to loot….    He went on to say, Look at Black Lives Matter website,  See  what the Movement  stands for. You will find that   Black Lives Matter  is  anti-family….  Of note, at Trinity Covenant you can worship in the sanctuary (with  social distancing), outside in your car  in the parking lot  or listen in from home.

Take a look at the Black Lives Matters website.   Click the link.   Black Lives Matters  promotes  inter-generational, non-nuclear family arrangements. There’s  mothers,  kids  and  they all live together with perhaps  a queer or two. Maybe an aunt or two also hanging out with them. No mention about men and their role.

Hey, Black Lives Matters folks:  Where are the Afro-American  men that fathered  the children? Who is telling black men  to stop killing other  blacks and start raising kids with a mother and father present in the home? A terribly huge percentage of black deaths (85+%)  are committed by black men.  That is the real problem.  Last year police killed twice as many white unarmed me (19) compared to black unarmed men (9).  Those are the hard, cold statistics that Black Lives Matters chooses to ignore. Check out last week’s Wall Street Journal for the most recent statistics.

Who is going to tell blacks to wake up and smell the roses?   Check out the facts. If you black mamas  and black poppas want  your children to go to college then get married and stay married.   And put your  kids in Charter Schools with non-union teachers. And stop buying into the victimhood card. That’s my view.

The website Black Lives Matters celebrates Obama’s  ‘if only I had a son he’d look like Trevon Martin. Black Lives Matters   celebrates the Gentle Giant of Ferguson,  the supposed martyr who died after he reached in the police car to grab a gun.   Both those   supposed ‘heroes’  of Black Lives Mater are  men  with long rap sheets and  a history of violence and use of  illegal drugs.

Yes, start listening.  Click the link and   Listen to  Candice Owens, a young articulate black  with views why blacks celebrate black thugs as martyrs.  It’s a community thing. You are a ‘honky’ if want to succeed and you are a martyr if you have a violent history and rap sheet.  No other culture celebrates thugs as heroes she notes.

Now, what about  the episcopal church leaders  in Aptos?  What says the episcopal  priest on Trinity Sunday? Mother T  of St. John’s focused on  current events specifically on  systemic racism in America.

How Whites should  / or  might  respond to the ‘ systemic racism of  police killing Black’ s  was the  sermon topic Trinity Sunday   by Mother T.     The day before,  she  attended a Black Lives Matter  rally   6/6/ 2020  in Watsonville CA  where   Mother T   held a   sign,  Black Lives are Holy, Sacred and Created in God’s image. There, she saw another sign,   White Silence Equals Black Deaths. She went to the Black Lives Matter rally  in Watsonville, CA to end white silence.

Mother T  with St. John’s  prefaced her sermon that  she identifies as White and  in her sermon was speaking to other Whites.

Essence of  Mother T’s sermon:  Sometimes white people need to stop talking and start listening. Repeat that sentence.

One way to start listening she says   is to join  the Facebook group  Be the Bridge.   This group  requires new members to engage in active listening (no posting and no comments) for three months. Three whole months.  That impresses Mother T.  (It is easy to join. Just follow 3 rules.)

Any discussion of the Trinity on Trinity Sunday   at St. John’s? Not that I noticed. Mother T suggested that  her mostly White parishioners focus on the  re pre-scribed reading for the day, The Creation Story.    God created the world and saw it was good.

The episcopal Mother T  added,   There are no adequate analogies to understand the Trinity so   be silent in the face of all we don’t know.

Like a good read?  Try  Dorothy Sayers Begin Here, the Mind of the Maker.  Sayers writes that  God is the  Creator and He knows the end of the Story.  And he knows the  main players  such as His son and the Holy  Spirit.  Sayers  writes  good crime novels too.

For more on  Dorothy Sayers,  read Robin Phillips Saints and Scoundrels.

What say you about the riots, looting and what the local church  leaders in Aptos  have to say about Black Lives Matter on Trinity Sunday?   Put your 2 cents in!

CNN Symone Sanders on microagressions, whatever they are

Make America Great Again first used by
Make America Great Again was first used by Ronald Reagan

On  “CNN Newsroom,” Symone Sanders argued that Make America Great Again “takes us back to a time when we were in slavery, when we were in chains, when we worked on plantations, internment camps for the Chinese.”

slaves in Virginia 1862
slaves in Virginia 1862
Sanders corrected the Chinese internment statement on Twitter, saying she misspoke and meant to refer to Japanese internment.

And the last thing I would say is that racism is — a racist is — I think people think racism is dogs and white hoods and water hoses and the n-word, and that is not the only form of racism.

There are microaggressions. There are oh, I didn’t — you speak so well. These are microaggressions that are forms of prejudice and discrimination that we have to address.”

Sanders added that just because a county voted for Obama, and then voted for Trump, “doesn’t mean that they don’t have elements of prejudice, of discrimination, of racism. That is the equivalent of saying I have a black friend.

————————-

Firenze Sage: I don’t think that more than 3 non zombies believe that people in chains was the thrust of Make America Great Again, but then maybe Symone Sanders was the spawn of a black slave owner.

You’r fired but we love free speech! Prof fired re Black Lives Matter

Prof Put on Leave for Comparing Black Lives Matter to KKK in Facebook comment.  Free speech?

The University of Virginia announced Friday that a professor has agreed to take leave after posting a Facebook comment that called Black Lives Matter racist and compared it to the Klu Klux Klan.

In a Friday statement to the campus, Provost Tom Katsouleas slammed business professor Douglas Muir’s Facebook post, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fighting racism and social injustice.

Katsouleas seemed to say that Muir’s opinion, in and of itself, threatened free speech on campus.

The university’s commitment to social justice “in no way squelches academic freedom, which welcomes dissent and encourages the voices of others whose perspectives may differ from ours—thereby adding new insights to our own,” Katsouleas wrote. “But statements such as Mr. Muir’s do not foster intellectual exploration, nor do they encourage the voices of others. … We can engage in healthy debate and respectful disagreement without offering insults that suppress the free expression of ideas.”

The climate crisis is a “racist crisis” say seven white persons chained together at a UK airport.  All Black Lives Matter protest stops flights at London City airport

Police arrest seven of nine people chained to tripod on runway in protest against impact of air pollution on black people.

Flights have been cancelled at London’s City airport after nine protesters from Black Lives Matter UK got on to the runway and chained themselves together.

The airport said all flights were disrupted and that police were at the scene.

…

The campaign said it carried out the protest to highlight the environmental impact of air travel on the lives of black people locally and globally.

It posted images of protesters lying on the runway after unfurling banners.

The group issued a video that said the reason for the protest was that the climate crisis was a “racist crisis”.

Kim Jong-un has executed a senior North Korean official by firing squad because he did not sit properly during a meeting.

Education minister Kim Yong-Jin, 63, was shot dead after his ‘bad sitting posture’ in parliament incurred the wrath of the North Korean dictator.

The slouching vice premier was interrogated and found to be an ‘anti-revolutionary agitator’ before his execution in July, a South Korean official said.

‘Vice premier for education Kim Yong-Jin was executed,’ South Korea’s unification ministry spokesman Jeong Joon-hee said.

‘Kim Yong-Jin was denounced for his bad sitting posture when he was sitting below the rostrum,’ he added, referring to North Korea’s parliament.

Kim Jong-un was in the government meeting and was infuriated after Kim Yong-Jin sat in his chair ‘with a bad attitude’.

Another South Korean official said the education official’s poor posture was spotted at a meeting on June 29, when Kim Jong-un was named chairman of a new national defence department.
